He was the younger son of Franciszek Ksawery Grocholski. As a result of the division of his father’s estate in 1795, he inherited the land along with the palace in Woronowica. Twice married, to Izabela Rytarowska, he had a daughter Helena and sons Adolf and Ignacy from his second marriage to Michalina Zeydler, two sons Władysław and Ludgard Bernard. In 1808, after his older brother Antoni died without issue, he inherited the Volyn estates along with the family manor in Tereszki. He died in Odessa and was buried in the church in Woronowica.

Month of March, the twenty-seventh day
Before the land acts of the Bracław County and before me, Kazimierz Zawrocki Czaykowski, vice-regent of the land of the same county, personally appeared Ur. Józef Kozaczyński, who submitted this script from IW. Jan Nepomucen Grocholski MPB to IW. Jan Ignacy Horodecki PPB for the sum of 61,400 Polish zlotys and additionally 23 red zlotys on a five-ruble stamped paper to the land acts of the Bracław County for registration. Below, signed in his own hand, I acknowledge with this manual script that I have taken and borrowed as a simple debt for my own interests from IW. Jan Ignacy Horodecki PB 61,400 Polish zlotys, in the following kinds: Dutch gold coins, single, weighing 1,170 pieces, each calculated at 19 Polish zlotys, making 22,230 Polish zlotys, Russian rubles, 1,404 pieces, each calculated at 6 Polish zlotys and 15 groszy, making 9,126 Polish zlotys, old Russian rubles, 999 pieces, each calculated at 7 Polish zlotys and 10 groszy, making 7,326 Polish zlotys, Prussian thalers, 3,061 pieces, each calculated at 6 Polish zlotys, making 18,366 Polish zlotys, and Polish currency: zlotys and quarters, 4,946 Polish zlotys, all kinds as expressed above in total amounting to 61,400 zlotys. This sum, as the actual capital and simple debt incurred in the year, God willing, to be repaid on January 15, 1805, in Kyiv or in the city designated for the contract, without interest, in the same kinds as above, I shall and am obliged to return and pay honestly to W. Jan Ignacy Horodecki PPB, and in the meantime, I record the security of the said sum on the Woronowica estate in the Podolia Governorate, Bracław County. Given in Kyiv on January 15, 1803, below such a note: additionally, I have taken 23 red gold coins added to the above-expressed sum. Signature: Nepomucyn Grocholski.
